Boerhaave Continuing Medical Education (CME) is a department of the LUMC. Boerhaave CME processes your personal data because you make use of our services and / or because you provide us with this data yourself. Below is an overview of the personal data that we hold and process for the regular courses:
- First and last name, initials
- Medical specialization and / or areas of interest
- BIG number
- Phone number
- Mobile number (for SMS notifications concerning the course for which you are registered)
- E-mail address
For the courses Radiation Protection (for preparation of exams and forwarding of the diploma):
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Country of birth
- Study results
For specific PhD and resident courses:
- Graduation year
- Study results
For PhD courses:
- Student number
- Result on final certificate
- Study results
Recording and processing of customer data
Only personal data that you have provided directly, or from which it is evident that it has been provided to us on purpose, will be stored and used in our services. For inspection, modification or removal of the information known to us, please contact: email@example.com. Alternatively, you can also log in and adjust your data yourself in “Mijn Boerhaave Nascholing”.

For how long we keep personal data
Only the personal data that you have provided directly or of which it is clear that it has been provided to us is stored and used in our services.
This means that Boerhaave CME will send you all the required information regarding your participation in the course for which you have been registered. Furthermore, Boerhaave CME will also keep you informed of courses in your field of discipline until you indicate that you wish to be permanently removed from our database.
Sharing of personal data with third parties
Boerhaave CME does not sell your information to third parties and will only provide them with personal data if this is necessary for the implementation of our agreement with you, like updating your accreditation points, or to comply with a legal obligation.
We conclude a processing agreement with companies – all within the EU- that process your data on our behalf to ensure a consistent level of security and confidentiality of your data.
We share (a part) of your data with:
- KNMG – GAIA for accreditation purposes
- ICLON University Leiden for digital evaluations
- Teachers of courses in which you participate for homework assignments, etc.
Processing data from website visit
The website may also contain links to third party websites. Although these website (s) have been carefully selected, Boerhaave CME - LUMC bears no responsibility with regard to these third parties and the way in which they handle (personal) data
View, modify or delete personal data
You have the right to view, modify or delete your personal data. In addition, you have the right to withdraw your consent for data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data by Boerhaave CME, and you have the right to portability of your personal data. This means that you can submit a request to forward the personal data that we hold about you in a computer file to you or another organization appointed by you. You can send a request for access, correction, deletion, data portability of your personal data, or request for withdrawal of your consent, or objection to the processing of your personal data to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will respond as soon as possible, but no later than four weeks, to your request.
You have a complaint
In case of complaints, you can contact the (patient) Service Office of the LUMC. Here you can report your dissatisfaction and fill in a digital complaint form. The patient service bureau will inform you as soon as possible about a possible solution and can possibly engage the complaints officer.
How we protect personal data
Boerhaave CME takes the protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent abuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized changes. Boerhaave CME has determined in a working document what may be shared with whom. Within the department, you can approach one person directly with questions. Additionally, questions can also be asked to the relevant officer of LUMC, of which Boerhaave CME is a department.
